TOPIC: "Relieve Dry Skin, Scalp and Hair Naturally"

It's New Year's eve and just the perfect time to start thinking seriously about 2004 and the healthier new you.

One of the easiest, most natural and effective measures you can take right now that will seriously decrease your daily toxic exposure this New Year is to stop bathing and showering in chlorine.

I've mentioned this before in a previous "secret", but now it's the New Year and I feel the need to emphasize how very important this one healthy change in your daily routine is and how it can simplify and drastically improve your life.

Do you know, for instance, that studies have proven that there is less chemical exposure from drinking unfiltered water than when using it to shower or bathe in?

In other words, your daily bathing and showering in unfiltered water is far more harmful to you and those you care about than actually drinking unfiltered water.

This makes obvious sense when you stop to consider that your skin is the largest organ of your body and that your skin is covered with many millions of pores.

Every time you take a shower or bath, the pores in your skin soak up all the toxins and contaminants in your water source, just like a sponge, and pass this toxic cocktail into your blood stream where it's free to flow about creating considerable damage.

It's really important that you understand this because you subject yourself to more harmful toxins with your daily shower or bath than anything else you do throughout your day (unless you're also a smoker).

What dangers can you expect to find lurking in your water source?

Perhaps the most prevalent and dangerous toxic chemical found in our water source is chlorine.

The damaging and harmful effects of chlorine are everywhere. Unfortunately, the harmful effects of chlorine are hidden from your direct view, which means that most of us haven't had any obvious reason to stop and think about the possibility that using it could be dangerous.

You're probably more familiar with chlorine's use as a bleaching agent for paper, in your laundry detergent to get those whites whiter and as an ingredient in your household cleaners.

As dangerous and harmful to ourselves and the environment as chlorine is when used in these bleaching and cleaning roles, an even bigger danger is the one that comes out of your shower or bath tap.

The effects of showering or bathing in unfiltered water can have an even more dangerous effect on the very young whose immune systems are not yet fully developed and the elderly who may have compromised immune systems.

Many people are unaware that chlorine is also commonly used in most public water systems.

Here's what you'll find in your water source:

  • Chlorine, is a toxic, yellow-green gas which is one of today's most heavily used chemical agents. Chlorine is also easily absorbed into your pores when you shower or bathe. You also inhale chlorine and other chemicals in the mist from the water. Chlorine chemically bonds with proteins in your hair, skin and scalp. Your hair then becomes rough and brittle and loses its color.

Chlorine causes and worsens skin irritations, drying out your skin and causing itching skin and flaking scalp. As well, chlorine irritates your eyes, leaving them red, itchy and burning and can aggravate your nose, throat and lungs. Chlorine easily passes through your cell walls and attaches to fatty acids in your cells disrupting life-sustaining functions. By-products of chlorine can contribute to cancer, birth defects and heart disease.

  • Arsenic - causes bladder, lung and skin cancer and may cause liver and kidney cancer.

  • Lead - can cause organ damage and lead to mental retardation.

  • Cadmium - can cause breast cancer, kidney damage and bone disease.

  • Bacteria - can cause serious illness or death. Power outages like the recent event in the eastern U.S. can disrupt water flow causing contamination.

  • Chloroform and Trichloroethylene - two highly volatile, toxic chemicals identified in many municipal water supplies. The National Academy of Science has estimated that 200 to 1000 people may die in the U.S. each year from cancers caused by ingesting these contaminants in water, through bathing or drinking the water.

What healthy changes can you expect to notice when you start using a shower and bath filter?

The benefits are considerable and will save you money, too, such as:

-» no more burning eyes
-» no more itching dry skin
-» no more dry, itchy scalp
-» no more premature loss of hair color
-» no more dried out hair
-» no more need for hair moisturizers
-» no more need for skin moisturizers
-» no more need to add oils or moisturizers to your bath or shower water

Think about it. Chlorine is a bleaching agent, so no wonder your eyes burn when you get unfiltered shower water in them, and no wonder your baby cries when you get water on its head.

Why would you want to wash your hair and skin with bleach? Once you remove the chlorine and other contaminants in your water source, you give your skin, hair and scalp the ability to retain its natural moisture and your hair color will last much longer, too.

I can tell you with absolute certainty that after 30 years of fighting the moisturizing battle, the moment I no longer required moisturizers for my skin, scalp and hair occurred the very first day I started using a shower filter.

Start your New Year off right by investing in a filter for your shower and bath and give yourself and your family the gift that will keep on giving all year long.

This will be money very well spent and you'll easily recoup the cost when you no longer need to buy cream rinses, water softeners, oils and skin moisturizers.

As well, you're likely to have less frequent trips to the hair dresser because your color lasts much longer and perhaps fewer trips to the doctor, too because removing this daily dose of toxins will definitely make you look and feel better.

Where can you find a good shower and bath filter?

I've researched shower and bath filters quite extensively and have found a reputable site that has lots of options and ideas for shower and bath filtration. I think the best route to go is with the "High Output" filter that you place between your water supply and your current shower arrangement. The filter lasts for a year, replacement filters are only $24. and it works with your existing shower head and hose. Get the "bath ball" filter, too and enjoy a leisurely soak in the tub without the chlorine and other contaminants.

I've placed a special shower filter link at the bottom of this "secret" because it's so very important that you get serious about using shower and bath filters in your home.

Go there now and order yours today because simply removing the daily toxins you're exposed to every time you or those you care about shower or bathe will make a huge improvement in your overall health today and every day.
