TOPIC:  "Throw Away Your Bathroom Scale"
Anyone who is concerned about having a healthier weight should really throw away that old scale. Why? Simply because body weight alone doesn’t give you enough accurate information to attain that healthy body because it doesn’t tell the whole picture.

An ordinary scale only gives you part of the information you really need to maintain a healthy body because first of all an ordinary scale can’t distinguish the difference between body fat and body muscle, and secondly, an ordinary scale cannot tell you how much of your total weight is water weight.

It’s very important to know how much of your overall weight is actually fat and how much is lean muscle because muscle is active tissue and very advantageous when it comes to burning excess fat, because it helps to increase your metabolism, which in turn causes your body to burn more calories. Lean muscle is heavier that fat, which means that you can be fooled into thinking you’re adding more fat when you might be increasing your lean muscle, instead.

Body fat measurements and the measuring tape have long been recognized as superior methods of accurately measuring weight loss, however another important point you may not be aware of when weighing yourself is your water weight. As a general rule, the more water weight you carry, the less fat weight you will have. When your fat goes up, almost always you will see that your water weight has decreased so it’s important to also monitor your water weight.

A certain amount of fat is essential for proper functioning of your body because fat regulates your body temperature, provides insulation and cushioning for your vital organs and tissues and is the main source of energy storage for your body.

Too little fat can also be dangerous because it can diminish the normal healthy functioning of the body in both men and women and can lead to problems with reproduction in women.

However, in most cases, too many of us are carrying excessively high amounts of fat that can lead to many health risks, including Type II diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, some cancers, stroke and heart disease, and this is even more of a health risk when your excess fat is located around the middle.

So before you decide that you need to lose weight, which usually means that you need to lose fat, remember to consider that accurately keeping track of your weight consists of keeping track of these three important factors...(1) Fat weight; (2) Water weight; and (3) Total body weight.

Where can you find one of these smart scales that will give you the total picture?

I highly recommend the one I use myself, designed by fitness guru, Tony Little. I’ve placed two convenient links right here on this “Secret” … one for Canadians and one for Americans who would like to get themselves one of these smart scales.

Canadians use this link: Body Express Body Fat Scale

And scroll down the page until you see “Tony Little Body Express Body Fat Scale”. This is a fantastic scale that will really help to keep your personal weight story in focus.

U.S. folks use this link: www.tonylittle.com

…then click on Wellness & Massage…then scroll down the page until you see “Body Express TM Body Fat Analyzer & Scale”.

So once you have a smart scale to help you with your healthy body goals, the first step to taking action is to accurately measure your body fat percentage, your water weight and your total body weight and remember while you’re losing the fat weight, to keep the water and calorie-burning muscle weight up.
