"Eating Healthy is Just Making Better Choices"

Eating healthy doesn’t take any more or less time, it’s just making better choices, and nobody does it better than Mother Nature when it comes to building and maintaining a healthy body.

Get back to the basics – eat fresh at home and neutralize free radical oxidation, which is rusting away your body, by eating a variety of foods high in antioxidants every day.

Free radical oxidation occurs when a small number of the oxygen molecules you breathe are converted within your body to unstable free radicals. It’s very important that you make a concerted effort to choose and eat foods high in antioxidant protection to counteract this rusting effect. 

Why? Because free radical-caused oxidation causes premature aging, degenerative disease, cancer and heart disease. Your body needs to be able to repair this oxidative damage that occurs and protect your body's tissue cells from the free radicals before they cause mutations. This is where antioxidants come to the rescue, because they significantly delay, inhibit, or prevent oxidation. 

Research has concluded that the average person needs approximately 5,000 ORAC units (Oxygen Radical Absorbancy Capacity) per day to counteract the free radical damage that is occurring in our bodies every day.

Unfortunately, a minimum of three servings of fruits and vegetables per day only provides about, 1,200 ORAC units, leaving the average person deficient by about 3,800 ORAC units every day. This means that the free radicals are gaining the upper hand and slowly eating away at your body every day.

Make it simple – chose natural, fresh food that is full of vitamins and minerals and antioxidant protection that every healthy body needs. Consider this analogy – would you fill your car’s gas tank with low grade fuel laced with high concentrations of sugar, salt and cancer-causing trans fats. Of course you wouldn’t, because your car would soon be found dead on the roadside. So why do this to your body?

Treat your body like a fine-tuned racing machine, fuel it with high grade fuel and you’ll get many, many worry free miles out of it.

When you make your food purchases, consider whether Mother Nature had any hand in the manufacturing process, and if not, learn to choose more wisely.

Cut back on salt and sugar and those huge portion sizes, especially the red meat. Too many of us have become accustomed to eating huge portions of food at every sitting and the resulting globesity is causing many health problems. 

Eat smaller portions, more often. Slowly increase your vegetable portions and reduce the meat until your normal meal consists of lots of fruit and vegetables and a side dish of protein.
