"Fasting Could Vastly Improve Your Life"
When you tell someone you’re going on a fast, most people look at you with horror in their eyes because they can’t fathom not eating those three or more meals a day. The fact is, eating is just another addictive habit which makes most of us eat far more food than our bodies actually need to function efficiently. The truth of this is evident everywhere you look in our overstuffed obese world.
Most of us go on holidays to relax from the daily grind of work, so why not go on a holiday from all the
"frankenfood" that’s out there in the marketplace today and give your body a chance to truly regenerate and
detoxify?
What happens when you stop putting food into your stomach is that your body will go into an elimination cycle. Most people who have a toxic buildup in their bodies, will experience some sort of withdrawal, from the caffeine, sugars, salt, etc. and will notice symptoms such as headaches, fatigue or irritability when fasting.
These sorts of withdrawal symptoms can be even worse when it involves allergic people who normally create and consume allergy causing
"frankenfoods" through their daily use of microwaving or just plain eating large quantities of unhealthy foods.
Fasting is not for everyone, for many different reasons, but if it is for you, it can really help improve your life once you get yourself over the first hurdle of getting your mind around the fact that you’re not going to die without a few days of food and come to realize the many benefits that could be the result.
Some of the benefits of fasting include more energy, mental clarity, better sleep, more relaxation, rejuvenation, purification, a rest for your digestive organs, clearer skin,
anti-aging effects, weight loss, reduced allergies, improved hearing, sight and taste, change of habits, increased resistance to disease, creativity, new ideas, and spiritual awareness.
So much of our bodily function is taken up with the processing of the foods we eat, leaving our systems little time to take care of the many other important processes going on in our bodies, such as elimination and the release of deadly toxins from the colon, kidneys, bladder, lungs, sinuses and skin.
A little fast could help many of us clear out the problems that have occurred from a lifetime of overeating and sluggish lifestyle. Many of life’s medical problems arise because of a body that cannot adequately process and eliminate harmful wastes.
What should you expect during a fast?
Your hunger will usually disappear after a day or three and you may experience a feeling of deep peace, while others may feel hungry all the time, or think they feel hungry. This is a good time to work on your psychological connection to consumption. You may also be more sensitive to cold.
It’s quite common to experience a headache during the first couple of days of fasting and you may also feel irritable or tired. As well you may notice some lightheadedness or dizziness when getting up and down quickly.
As your body begins to detox, you may notice an increase in your sensitivity to sounds and smells and many people develop a thick white or yellow coating on the tongue. Depending on your particular state of toxicity, you may experience bad breath, skin eruptions, digestive upset or even nausea and vomiting, etc. Most of these types of symptoms will occur early on during your fast and pass quite quickly.
Certainly fasting is not recommended for everyone, especially those who may suffer from being underweight, who are pregnant, nursing, pre and post-surgery, have low immunity, weak hearts, low blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, cancer, mental illness, nutritional deficiencies, etc. and if you are at all uncertain about whether or not you should try a fast, you should consult with your doctor first.
When you’re fasting, you should really prepare to relax and take a break from most, if not all of your everyday activities. The most taxing thing you should do while fasting is to take a slow walk in the warm sunshine. Racing about doing all your usual activities and working your 9-5 too is not the greatest time to think about a fast.
I’ve been fasting for many years now, and usually will go for either a 3-day fast or a 10-day fast, depending on how sluggish I am feeling at the time and I’ve found that the very best overall results occur when I am the most relaxed and not working my usual job.
