"Stress and Your Financial Health"

We’re all familiar with the word “stress” and the myriad negative effects, including ill health, that it can have upon us, but did you know that research has shown that the three factors which cause the most stress are:

1. family
2. money
3. and job?

Today we're going to talk about money stress or the importance of your financial health because worrying about having enough money to pay your bills will definitely take a toll on your health.

It’s not surprising that a recent report, which looked at levels of wealth, concluded that the more money one has the happier one is.

You may be a staunch believer of that old saying “Money Can’t Buy Happiness”, but you may have to change your viewpoint on that belief, because when the amount of happiness generated by a lasting marriage was compared to the amount of happiness produced by a change in financial circumstances, the statistical calculations showed that a lasting marriage brings as much added happiness as an extra $100,000.00 in annual income.

No one can deny that when the bills start piling up and creditors start calling, for most this creates a very uncomfortable, highly stressful and unhappy situation.

There’s a lot to be said for monetary peace of mind when it comes to your daily health, because the stress of money – too little of it – how to invest it – how to manage daily expenses – how to provide for long term goals, such as college education and retirement or critical health care, can be a very significant source of stress in your daily life.

As well, the stress of personal money problems is taking its toll in today’s workplace.

Do you know that money stress strikes millions of North Americans every day and that more than one third of the workforce reports that the worry about not having enough money hampers their job performance?

Research shows that at least 50% of all workers suffer from stress related to money problems. Did you know that research shows 54% of workers worry about how much they owe and 53% are dissatisfied with their personal financial situation?

So why are so many people stuck in an unhealthy, stressful financial situation and how do you replace all this dollar anxiety with monetary peace of mind?

The obvious reason why so many of us find ourselves in unhealthy financial situations is a combination of there not being enough money right now and not knowing how to successfully turn the tables on the financial inequities facing us with what we have right now.

The way to replace dollar anxiety and stress with monetary peace of mind is to take a leap of faith, no matter how small, and decide to do something different.

One answer that can work very effectively for many is "investing". Investing is a great tool even for those of us who may come from working class backgrounds and have always thought that the scary, taboo little “investing” word is a word that only the wealthy can put to good use.

The great news is that even those of us who have grown up with the belief that they’ll never have enough to invest, the sooner you start to see and think about yourself as an “investor”, the sooner all the scary thoughts around that little word will disappear and you’ll be on your way to financial freedom and relief from all that dollar stress. And that means you ladies, too.

I say ladies, too, because half of all the money managers are women, yet most women still believe that investing is something that men do?

There was a cross cultural study carried out about ten years ago in which both men and women were surveyed about their confidence level with respect to investing. The results of this study showed that about 80% of men were confident about investing, whereas only 29% of women felt confident.

The fact is that women money managers can make superior investors because most women possess more natural intuition than men, plus a natural ability to multi-task and integrate more information.

So how do you get started? The best way to get feeling comfortable with “investing” is to join a group of like-minded individuals, where you won’t feel intimidated about asking questions, where you can phone in and listen to group calls and where you will find group support and learn about programs that you choose to become involved with, or not.

I recommend getting your feet wet by becoming a free member of a private Club called Your Freedom Group where you’ll gain the knowledge of the entire membership. You’ll learn how you can start investing with as little as $450.00 and how to turn relatively small, one time investments into substantial nest eggs.
